" Metaverse - a virtual-reality space in which users can interact with a computer-generated environment and other users."
This past week I had focused on follow-ups, I had sent follow-up emails to the previous LinkedIn messages and phone calls. To which excitingly multiple experts got back to me saying they were interested in meeting. So currently I am working on scheduling interviews with them. In addition to this, my last interview with Mr.Robert Schwertner inspired me to research the #Metaverse. IN the past Month Facebook had changed its name from Facebook to Meta, I wanted to know what was so important about Metaverse that Facebook change its name. The idea of a Metaverse is having a second life outside of reality, it can be seen as a virtual reality or online virtual world. In simple Metaverse is an alternate world of VR where one feels as if they are physically present in that world. You can enter a world out of a Disney movie, hear, move, see, smell, and touch this fictional world while being in the comforts of one's home. Another use case for the Metaverse is in gaming. Because gaming takes a lot of time and commitment, the idea of being able to buy special items, boosts, or skills to make the game easier, becomes incredibly popular. But the issue was that even if you speed thousands to buy collect a good inventory ( items) the items themselves are not worth anything unless you find a way to trade or sell them online. Similarly, if one has improved in the game traditionally without buying any items and had collected an impressive collection of the item, the items would still have no monetary value since the items only have value in the game itself. But through the use of cryptocurrencies, you can add monetary value to games. For example, if you win an item in the game you can export the item to a crypto wallet, and then could convert it to an NFT and trade on an NFT market such as #Opensea. In this way, you can make a virtual reality that not only provides you with entertainment but also has monetary value. I found this interesting since I had never thought of connecting the metaverse to crypto, therefore I decided I wanted to do more research regarding the Metaverse. Through some research, I found another use case for the Metaverse. Imagine being able to enter a store, try on clothes, feel them, talk to people and essentially get the whole in-person shopping benefits in the comforts of your home. In this way Metaverse could revolutionize the retail industry, one could go to a shop try the clothes, talk to people, and buy the product using crypto. Very similar to online shopping, except with the benefits of in-person shopping. I found this even more interesting because it provided me with a better understanding of what metaverse actually does.
In conclusion, by researching Metaverse and its uses I now hope to find opportunities in the growing field to reap the best benefits. Additionally in the
Following week I plan to meet with a few mentors and continue my research in Metaverse and start researching #De-Fi ( Decentralized Finance).
